The International conference center in Kyoto, designed by Japanese architect Sachio Otani in 1963, is one of Kyoto's hidden architectural gems.
Reinterpreting traditional Japanese architecture, this Center, relatively unknown, is a unique and modern masterpiece. One of Otani's goals and challenges was to peacefully integrate such a big geometric megastructure of exposed and reinforced concrete into the green natural surroundings. By designing an extensive Japanese garden with multiple pathways he provided visitors with a way to blend the rigid structure and the nature surrounding it.
