EESTI RAHVA MUUSEUM
In 2005, Estonia launched an international competition for the design and execution of their new Estonian National Museum, located in Tartu. The winning proposal from DGT Architects just opened its doors in October 2016. The studio challenged the brief by proposing a new location, a former Soviet military base, which represents the ruins of a painful history. The museum becomes a continuation of the airfield - its roof lifting and expanding towards an infinite space. The project just won the won the GRAND PRIX AFEX 2016. One of the most captivating things when photographing it was the way the whole complex blends with the environment surrounding it.
